2024 Chevrolet Camaro Review

| Updated 3 Days Ago
The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro is a two-door sports coupe or convertible starting at $43,098. This production year, part of the sixth generation that Chevrolet launched in 2016, marks the final iteration of the Camaro before it stops production. Chevrolet noted they may bring this model back in the future as an electric vehicle, but the automaker hasn’t mentioned any dates.
Motopickers Rating: 7.9/10
The 2024 Camaro will commemorate its nameplate with collector edition models on the LT/RS, LT1, SS, and ZL1 in North America. Chevrolet began manufacturing the Camaro in 1966 for the 1967 model year.
A 2024 Camaro offers sporty excitement via robust V6 and V8 powertrains and responsive handling, which is complemented by a smooth ride for its segment. Its limited trunk space is somewhat expected, but we’ll explore whether its other drawbacks, which include limited rear visibility, second-row room, and control ergonomics, are enough to deter potential buyers.
This Chevrolet’s primary rival is Ford’s Mustang, which the automaker has been producing since 1964, so our review will include several comparisons of the two competitors. Since Ford has released its 2025 Mustang, we’ll highlight the 2025 Mustang year instead of its 2024 predecessor to bring you the most up-to-date information.
Exterior spotlight
The 2024 Camaro LT, LT1, and SS Collector Edition boasts a Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat with a Black center stripe, a Camaro Collector Edition fender badge, and 20-inch 5-split-spoke forged-aluminum wheels. This special edition model includes a black or polished spoiler and front splitter.
The ZL1 Camaro Collector Edition with more limited availability features:
- Panther Black Matte exterior color with Black Metallic center stripe
- Camaro Collector Edition fender badge
- 20” Dark Graphite premium-painted forged-aluminum wheels
- Visible carbon-fiber weave rear spoiler (Coupe model)
- Front splitter
Other wheel sizes measure 18” or 19”, and fender badges outside of special edition models contain a red outline or black Camaro logo. Black SS wheel center caps can match the available black convertible top, and tail lamps offer a dark tint option. Standard LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) enhance the base model’s value, but features like power side mirrors are present within higher trims.
The 2024 Camaro is available in the following colors:
- Red Hot
- Summit White
- Black
- Vivid Orange Metallic
- Nitro Yellow Metallic
- Riptide Blue Metallic
- Riverside Blue Metallic
- Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat
- Radiant Red Tintcoat
- Sterling Grey Metallic
Those who don’t want a 2024 Camaro convertible can opt for the coupe’s power sunroof option, and several rear spoiler choices contribute to this model’s sporty persona. One of these rear spoiler configurations includes a visible weave carbon fiber design. You can equip the 2024 Camaro with center or rally stripes. There are so many 2024 Camaro exterior options that Chevrolet groups the features in Design 1, 2, and 3 packages.
Comparatively, a new exterior feature for the competing 2025 Mustang is the matte clear film option for the coupe, which shields your paint and contains a satin-like finish that’s matte and glossy. This Ford also introduces a blue ember metallic color for the Dark Horse trim. The appeal of blue ember metallic’s appeal is in its color-shifting.
While the 2025 Mustang has some interesting exterior updates, the 2024 Camaro’s Collector Edition models are more dynamic in their presentations.
Interior close-up
In addition to the Collector Edition 2024 Camaro models, there’s the Redline Edition, which contains unique interior features such as a jet black interior with contrasting red seat belts and knee pads. Other primary interior colors are Medium Ash Gray, Adrenaline Red, and Ceramic White. Front bucket seats are standard and optional. Recaro performance front bucket seats have a sportier look and more lateral support.
A leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel are also standard, while a sueded microfiber-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel are available. A carbon fiber-style shift knob cap can come with a manual transmission, and drivers may add more carbon fiber trim on the instrument panel. Door accent trim comes in black, red, or white—reflecting this model’s dynamic design philosophy.
Drivers seeking a racing feel can select available alloy sport pedals, aluminum interior trim, and an embroidered center console lid with the Chevrolet Performance logo. The driver’s seat features a 6-or 8-way power adjustment, and floor mats are carpeted or available with all-weather material.
Interior critiques
While the 2024 Camaro offers an optional heated steering wheel, its base trim doesn’t contain heated driver and front passenger seats. Trunk space is limited at 7.3-9.1 cubic feet (cu. ft.), and the rear seat is extremely cramped. Available illuminated footwells and sill plates ease entries and exits while enhancing aesthetics, but when you’re inside, the user interface, which we’ll explore more in our tech section, presents a learning curve regarding its interface design.
Most 2025 Mustangs can feature a black onyx, space gray, emberglo, and carmine red cabin configuration, matching the 2024 Camaro’s number of cabin color schemes. Ford’s 2025 Mustang competes with unique 2024 Camaros like the Redline Edition via its Dark Horse with exclusive interior designs, such as black cloth with blue accents in cloth/vinyl or microsuede/vinyl combinations.
Camaro vs. Mustang interior verdict
These two models are neck-and-neck when it comes to upholstery designs, but the 2025 Mustang arguably has a more refreshed interior—especially with its curved display unifying the central infotainment touchscreen and the digital instrument panel.
Power and performance
You’ll get potent acceleration from both the 2024 Camaro’s V6 and V8 powertrains. The 3.6-liter V6 engine produces 335 horsepower and 284 lb.-ft. of torque. Moving up to the 6.2-liter V8 engine gives you 455 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft. of torque, and the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 delivers 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. Drivers can make the most of this power with features such as launch control, which optimizes acceleration without wheelspin by modifying engine torque.
Available front and rear Brembo performance anti-lock brakes supply more peace of mind when testing this sports car’s limits, while black or carbon fiber exhaust tips reflect this model’s high-performance spirit. Chevrolet also offers a dual-outlet exhaust with bright tips and an optional aggressive dual-mode exhaust with an aggressive sound, quad outlets, 4” stainless-steel tips, and a black-grained rear diffuser with a rear vent.
The 2024 Camaro’s four selectable drive modes consist of Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice, and Track, although track mode is only present on SS and ZL1 grades. Paddle shifters are present and help you feel in control alongside features such as a limited-slip rear differential, available magnetic ride control, and performance-tuned or sport suspension options. All 2024 Camaro models are rear-wheel drive (RWD).
Ford’s 2025 Camaro similarly offers sport-tuned suspension, multiple drive modes, and high-performing brakes. This model’s powertrain options include a standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine with 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Selecting the 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine within the Dark Horse coupe trim gives you 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque, as Ford’s most powerful 5.0-liter V8 yet. The 2025 Mustang’s maximum horsepower rating exceeds 800, handily beating the 2024 Camaro.
While these two rivals have comparable performance, the 2024 Camaro boasts better exhaust options and the 2025 Mustang has more horsepower.
Tech overview
The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro’s tech is solid but nothing remarkable beyond the performance-related systems we’ve mentioned, such as launch control. Still, we haven’t covered some features, such as the available performance data video recorder, which films drives and logs live performance data. While the performance data video recorder is appealing in conjunction with the robust powertrains, watching the filmed drives in-car won’t be as exciting with the Camaro’s 7” or 8” diagonal touchscreens.
Ford’s 2025 Mustang has a far better-looking display setup than its Camaro counterpart, with a 13.2” central touchscreen and a vibrant 12.4” LCD instrument cluster. This Mustang display also provides access to data points like G-forces, track times, and launch control. However, unlike the 2024 Camaro, the 2025 Mustang doesn’t have a head-up display (HUD).
The HUD feature digitally projects driving information like phone calls and your current speed onto the windshield within your road line of sight. A wireless smartphone charging pad is present in 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1 Camaro trims, and an optional WiFi hotspot increases connectivity. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but the base audio system only has six speakers. Upgrading to the Bose audio system gives you nine speakers in coupe models and seven speakers in convertible versions.
Chevrolet equips the 2024 Camaro with 24 different interior ambient lighting choices, which can alter in unison with changes in drive modes or gear positions like park. A rear vision camera is standard across the Camaro lineup alongside dual-zone automatic climate control, but memory settings for the driver’s seat position and outside mirrors are optional.
Safety capabilities
The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) are the top two organizations that evaluate a vehicle’s crash protection capabilities. While the IIHS hasn’t yet rated the 2024 Camaro’s crash protection, the NHTSA gave the sports car its highest score of five stars.
Driver-assist safety systems contributing to this NHTSA rating include:
- Forward Collision Alert
- Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Rear Park Assist
Forward collision alert is primarily designated for vehicle detection, and lane change alert with side blind zone alert won’t provide automatic steering assistance in addition to its audible and visual notifications. Rear cross traffic alert and rear park assist, which is another term for rear parking sensors, won’t supply automatic braking alongside driver warnings. It’s essential to know that these four safety systems aren’t standard within all 2024 Camaro trims.
The 2025 Ford Mustang is more advanced in its safety setup with the Ford Co-Pilot 360 system, which has standard features such as rain-sensing windshield wipers, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, pre-collision assist, and post-impact braking. Neither the IIHS nor the NHTSA have rated the 2025 Mustang’s crash protection. Still, the 2024 Mustang earned the NHTSA’s highest score of five stars, possibly foreshadowing similar success for this new model year.

Final verdict
The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro doesn’t disappoint, with its final iteration marking the end of the model’s historic run dating back to the 1960s. Many of our review’s features are listed as available or optional, but this is largely because there are so many trims, so you’ll find many of these mentioned features as standard in certain trims.
We approve of the 2024 Camaro and give it a 7.9/10 because of its thrilling performance, quality starting prices, and unique special edition models. However, its smaller infotainment display and safety design with fewer standard driver-assist systems are why we prefer the 2025 Ford Mustang. Still, if you can get a special edition 2024 Camaro, this Chevrolet is the better choice due to its rarity, which will help it achieve buyer satisfaction and a strong resale value.
