The 2024 Ram 1500 TRX Final Edition, starting at $96,585, is the Ford Raptor’s most significant competitor within the premium pickup truck market. MotoPickers is here to determine whether the Ram 1500 TRX gives its rival a run for its money—and if so, to what degree. We’ll compare the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX with Ford’s Raptor R, the most similar Raptor variant with a starting price of $109,145.
MotoPickers Rating: 9.5/10
Part of this Ram pickup’s allure is its production that’s limited to 4,000 units worldwide. Another significant selling point is its 6.2-liter Supercharged HEMI V8 engine, which boasts over 700 horsepower and a stellar 0-60 MPH time. This motor will be the final V8 that Ram produces.
The 2024 Ram 1500 TRX’s exterior is aesthetically pleasing with dynamic touches, including monotone and two-tone options, attractive decals, and distinctive badging. The 2024 Ram 1500 TRX is exclusively available in four-wheel drive (4WD) and a 5’7” Crew Cab box configuration.
Learn more about the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX’s offerings and how they stack up against its rival below.
Exterior design and features
Thanks to its black TRX hood decal, TRX hood badge, and bed decal in sleek titanium silver, you’ll have no problem capturing the spotlight behind the wheel of this special edition Ram.
Exterior color options include:
- Delmonico Red Pearl (new)
- Night Edge Blue (new)
- Harvest Sunrise (new)
- Bright White
- Diamond Black Crystal
- Flame Red
- Hydro Blue Pearl
- Billet Silver Metallic
- Granite Crystal Metallic
The Ram 2024 1500 TRX comes with 18” Beadlock (which prevent tire bead separation from the rim) wheels in satin titanium reserved for this production year. Ram engineers have specially designed these wheels to support the truck’s factory 35” tires, so while you could install 37” tires, the minds behind this pickup don’t recommend doing so. A larger tire will decrease performance and suspension capabilities during jumps.
Refined aggression
One could describe the entire exterior as aggressive, but not to a fault. Compared to Ford’s Raptor, its clearance lights are on top of the truck’s hood. The hood and rear sides of the front fenders contain heat extractors, which help manage motor temperature by removing hot air from the engine bay. Rear fender vents on the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX are solely for looks.
Some have complained that this model’s bed is challenging to enter, but the driver-side back corner of the rear fender contains a retractable step. Stepping into this pickup’s cabin is seamless, with running boards containing a durable powder coating and open slots that help clear accumulated debris. While its bed includes a liner, unlike Ford’s Raptor, its material seems a bit low-grade, especially with its sliding rail.
A look at the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX’s rear exhaust reveals enormous exhaust tips contributing to the truck’s aggressive styling and engine note. Drivers will also receive high-end gloss black door handles matching gloss black trim spanning across the underside. We think the Ram 1500 TRX’s exterior beats its Raptor competitor in every area except the bed.
Performance and capability
The final Ram Hemi V8 delivers 702 horsepower, 650 lb-ft of torque, and a 4.5-second 0-60 MPH time. Many have heard the word “Hemi” tossed around, but fewer may know its meaning. Hemi engines, short for hemispherical, contain intake and exhaust valves on the opposite side of the engine chamber, which increases airflow for better performance.
Hemi also refers to the hemispherical cylinder shape. In addition to design alterations like top-placed spark plugs, this configuration lowers the air-fuel mixture’s burn distance, creating more efficient combustion.
Drivers can tow up to 8,100 lbs with this beast and handle a 1,357-lb payload. A premium suspension system with Bilstein shocks specifically designed to support the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX’s massive power output without a driver experiencing uncomfortable bumps. Most drivers understand a large pickup like this won’t excel in fuel economy, but it’s worth noting that the truck provides 10 MPG in the city and 14 MPG on the highway.
Drive modes
Make the most of the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX’s performance with several drive modes, including:
- Sport
- Tow
- Snow
- Auto
- Custom
- Mud/Sand
- Rock
- Baja (ideal for desert environments)
Ram gives 2024 1500 TRX drivers the option of selecting a drive mode with the central infotainment display or analog steering wheel buttons.
Interior comfort and features
This high-end pickup’s cabin seats up to five with tons of space in the rear and front rows. The front passenger side contains a satin titanium TRX dashboard badge, while a center console badge confirms this limited edition model’s manufacturing number for verification.
The seats contain well-crafted Patina accent stitching, while the entire dashboard is covered in Alcantara leather. A distinctive TRX logo is embroidered on the seatbacks, and matte carbon fiber accents and tri-axle-suede door trim heighten the cabin’s premium feel. All seats feature Alcantara leather woven to look like carbon fiber.
The 2024 Ram 1500 TRX’s rear seating easily beats the Raptor R’s, with additional textures forming a more layered atmosphere. A panoramic sunroof contributes to the rear row’s spaciousness by allowing natural light to facilitate an airy feel.
Tech overview
This high-end pickup features a 12” vertically mounted display, a 12” Driver Information Digital Cluster Display, and an immersive 19-speaker Harman Kardon Premium Audio System. Navigation comes standard with this model, and its infotainment system can simultaneously support two smartphones.
The 2024 Ram 1500 TRX’s Head-Up Display projects essential driving data like navigation, current speed, and incoming calls onto your windshield within your line of sight. When activated, this truck’s Digital Rearview Mirror expands your rear perspective with a rear camera streaming live video.
Safety and driver assistance
Ram’s 2024 1500 TRX Final Edition contains the following four primary standard safety and security systems:
- ParkSense Front and Rear Park-Assist with Stop
- Surround View Camera System
- Trailer Reverse Steering Control
- Blind-Spot and Cross-Path Detection
ParkSense Front and Rear Park-Assist with Stop uses ultrasonic sensors to provide proximity alerts and automatic braking to help you avoid obstacles while parking. The system is beneficial in tight parking situations where you wouldn’t want anything to damage this truck’s stellar exterior.
The Surround-View Camera System uses four cameras on this pickup’s front, rear, and sides to produce an overhead view, perspectives from individual cameras, or a split-screen presentation displaying two angles.
Trailer Reverse Steering Control streamlines the process of backing up a trailer by altering steering input to better align the truck and trailer, increase maneuverability, and lower the likelihood of a collision with an obstacle. Blind-spot and Cross-Path Detection warns drivers of impending blind-spot and cross-traffic collisions during instances like lane changes and reverse driving.
Optional packages worth considering
While the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX Final Edition’s starting price is $96,585, you’ll have to select some upgrade packages to attain many attractive features. Below, we’ve highlighted these packages with brief descriptions and their prices.

Since there’s only one 2024 Ram 1500 TRX Final Edition model, it’s helpful to view these upgrades as akin to different trims. Ownership considerations
Equipping the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX to a level where you get the most out of its design will cost around $125,000. Ford’s Raptor R also requires drivers to select packages for appealing features while holding a higher base price of $109,000. Decking out a Ford Raptor R will cost around $130,000.
Ram’s basic warranty for this truck lasts three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The powertrain warranty runs five years or 60,000 miles. Ford’s Raptor R offers the same basic and powertrain warranty protection.
Final verdict: Ram 1500 TRX or Ford Raptor R?
MotoPickers gives Ram’s 2024 1500 TRX a 9.5/10/10 overall score. We additionally recommend it over the competing Ford Raptor R. While both pickup trucks are competent and stylish, the 2024 Ford Raptor’s only clear advantage lies in its bed, but it carries a higher price. However, that’s not the primary reason we’re suggesting the Ram 1500 TRX.
Exclusivity makes the Ram 1500 TRX worth its price of admission over the Raptor R. While specific production figures for the 2024 Ford Raptor R aren’t readily available, the Raptor’s multiple variants slightly detract from its rarity, even if they’re priced lower.
This is also the final TRX model. The TRX line launched more recently for Ram’s 2021 production year—always with one grade. Alternatively, the Raptor line kicked off in 2010 and now has four variants, making the name slightly less exclusive, even if Ford released the Raptor R as part of its 2023 model year lineup.
Remember that this is your final chance to own a Ram-manufactured V8 engine. Ford’s 2024 Raptor R utilizes a V8 but will continue production after Ram halts V8 manufacturing. The 1500 TRX’s quarter-mile time is a blazing-fast 12.9 seconds.
In our view, the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX Final Edition’s interior is far more dynamic than the 2024 Raptor R’s, with its use of different materials and textures just about everywhere you look. Its carbon fiber accents are incredibly sleek, and the Raptor R doesn’t contain this Ram’s Patina stitching, an ideal blend of rugged and stylish.
Notes from Ram also highlight how much precision has gone into the final 1500 TRX’s factory design. Some pickup truck enthusiasts quickly install aftermarket upgrades, like larger tires. However, Ram emphasizes that factory components within this pickup, like its 35” all-terrain tires, are designed specifically for the truck’s configuration. Overlooking these engineers’ advice will result in lower performance, which would be a shame given the pickup’s premium cost.
Its suspension also shouldn’t receive any alterations. Its Bilstein Black Hawk e2 shocks contain advanced damping technology, fostering equal performance on paved roads and rugged off-road trails. This suspension system also boasts a high ground clearance, an extremely durable design, and precision tuning for the 1500 TRX’s powerful V8.
We highly encourage you to view all of the features within each 2024 Ram 1500 TRX Final Edition upgrade package to ensure you receive an ideal configuration that doesn’t lack some of your favorite offerings we’ve covered.
